The Michigan Chapter was indeed highly represented in Lebanon; we had colleagues participating at all levels. We certainly are proud of our members who formed the majority of the Convention’s Organizing Committee, sepcifically the convention chair Dr. Marwan Aboljoud to whom we tip the hat for a job well done.
As part of the Convention’s activities we appeared on a couple of Radio interviews where not only the event’s activities were outlined but also NAAMA functions and mission were addressed and specifically what takes place here in Michigan. This also occupied a major part of our conversation with Prime Minister Hariri of Lebanon with whom we had the chance to visit.
Subsequent to the Convention in Lebanon a delegation from the Michigan Board and ACCESS Community Health and Research Center met in Damascus with the Syrian Minister of Expatriates Dr Bouthaina Shaaban who was interested to learn about our renewed involvement with our community both Arab and American here in the United States.
Our Members also met with the president of Aleppo University and the Dean of Medical School and discussed possibilities of future collaboration.
In Damascus we also had the chance to do an hour-long Television interview with the Syrian Satellite Channel addressing the role of NAAMA and ACCESS in the Arab-American community. |
